For months fans of the popular dystopia novel Divergent have been eagerly awaiting the release of the movie adaptation.

However, many of the fans were disappointed by the movie, which tends to be the trend with book-based movies.

I, on the other hand, enjoyed the movie. I felt that the plot was well maintained and the acting was very well executed.

While many people complained about the fact that many aspects of the book were left out, I felt that the plot did not suffer for it. The plot kept accurate and loyal to the book. The things that I noticed were missing did not impact the quality of the movie.

The set was also very well represented. It accurately depicts a post- war Chicago that is working to build itself back to a working society.

Finally, I really enjoyed the acting.  Kate Winslet did a fantastic job as the movie villain. I really hated her. I was also really impressed by Jai Courtney who played another antagonist named Eric. My temper rose every time he entered a scene.

And, of course, I would be remiss not to mention the main Shailene Woodley and Theo James who played the main characters Tris and Four. What I loved about them was that the romance did not take up every single aspect of their lives and the story. It was a constant addition, but not necessarily a distraction.

I did have one problem with the romance. In the book, it seems natural and sweet for them to fall in love, but in the movie I felt like it was an awkward teacher/student situation for the first part of the movie. As the plot progressed, I was more comfortable, but I feel as though the fact the Theo looks so much older than Shailene made things a little awkward in the beginning.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Divergent and am anxiously awaiting the sequel Insurgent.
